Family in Need of Donations as ‘The Budgetarian Bride’ Winner Succumbs to Cancer

“Some infinities are bigger than other infinities,” read the famous line from John Green’s The Fault in our Stars. Married couple Louela Gomez Portentado and John Robert Portentado’s happy ever after was cut short after she succumbed to cancer recently; leaving her husband and kids too soon.

And to make things even worse, aside from the pain of losing a spouse and a mother, her family is also suffering from financial problems and is currently in need of assistance.

On Facebook, The Budgetarian Bride encouraged its followers to help the family Louela–who was included on the website’s Top 10 lists for several times–by simply donating P10.

“Raising fund for our fellow Budgetarian Bride, Louela Gomez Portentado, who passed away due to cancer. She was one of the most active brides during our ‘Patingin’ posts before. She even won Top 10 spots a few times, like on this Top 10 Makeup, where she placed as Top 10,” according to the post.

“I was just hoping to help her family pay the P1.5-million hospital bill by simply donating P10. Makikita n’yo ang account numbers sa second picture. We currently have 88,000 followers and kahit half lang sa atin ang mag-donate ng P10, it would already mean a lot. Your P10 pesos would go a long way,” it added.

To note, Louela’s husband was one of the ABS-CBN employees who recently lost their jobs.

The Budgetarian Bride
The Budgetarian Bride is a brand created by Camille Fornela; which aims to help soon-to-be brides by giving wedding planning tips and ideas.

“Camille started this brand as her way of helping brides-to-be avoid the wedding regrets she once had during her own wedding. With her personal experience, she realized that brides-to-be can actually plan their own church wedding within six months, without hiring a wedding planner. They just need to understand the wedding planning process and how to plan a wedding step by step,” read the website’s about page.
