Social gatherings are either prohibited or everyone is told to exercise caution and to practice good hygiene at all times.

Wedding at the Time of COVID-19

One couple in Hong Kong recently made headlines after deciding to still proceed with their wedding amid the COVID-19 outbreak. It turned out that these two had been postponing their wedding due to the outbreak.

But with the outbreak doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. So, they finally decided to push through with their plans on March 10. Knowing that their guests would all be wearing masks, the couple decided that they would still go through the usual activities for the reception, but dinner would have to wait until their guests are at home!

They didn’t want their guests to feel uncomfortable and unsafe as they remove their masks to eat dinner. Thus, this couple enlisted the help of Choi Fook Wedding Banquet Group to pack their ‘takeout’ reception for all their guests.

The restaurant packed a total of 150 bags of the meal that was supposed to be served for the reception. Photos of the ‘takeout’ bags went viral. Each bag contains several takeout boxes filled with roasted pig, noodles, seafood, vegetables, soup, desserts, and some condiments.

The wedding banquet began at 7PM, with the couple hosting a fun-filled night. At 8:30PM, the activities have ended – and the guests went home, each bringing a pack of ‘takeout’ reception. Sounds like a great idea for future weddings, huh?

That way, the guests will stay throughout the party and the event won’t end up like this:

But others think it is ‘cheap’ and doesn’t look good in the wedding photos. They believe the couple should have canceled their wedding instead. Still, many don’t agree and said that life must go on; the couple made the most of the situation by doing the ‘takeout’ reception.
