Columnist Ricky Lo drew flak early on February 20 when he announced that Matteo Guidicelli and Sarah Geronimo are getting married anytime that day, citing a “highly reliable source”. Many people thought it was wrong of the columnist to announce the wedding, particularly because it would appear that the couple wanted to keep it private.
“Sarah Geronimo and Matteo Guidicelli are getting married anytime today. The wedding is so hush-hush that, according to the source, Matteo’s family ‘will be present.’ It’s not sure if Sarah’s parents, Divine and Delfin, are attending,” Lo wrote in the column.
Busy with Taping
But Sarah would soon arrive at the taping for “The Voice Teens” which began before 9AM that day. The Pop Star Princess and her friends just laughed off the rumors, with some joking that they were lucky to be invited to the wedding and the venue was there at the taping.
“MGA WHAT TIME PO BA ANG WEDDING??! Para double time kami sa shoot today with Coach Sarah! Kasi kasama namin siya now eh. Kami na po mag-aadjust!!! ????” Jomar Yap joked.
“Dito po ba venue? Yes invited kame hahaha,” Carlo Yanesa joked as he shared a video with the pop star.

All eyes were on Sarah the entire day, but she appeared calm and collected. She didn’t even appear to be in a hurry, they said.

Secret Wedding Ceremony
But news of the secret wedding ceremony broke out after the police confirmed it actually happened. Yes, the police!
It turned out that Mommy Divine was not invited to the ceremony. Sarah’s mother, who is long known to be too strict on the pop star, arrived at the wedding and trouble would soon begin as an angry Matteo punched Sarah’s close-in bodyguard, Jerry Tamara.
According to the police blotter, Jerry arrived at the station around 11PM on Thursday, February 20, to report the incident.
According to Jerry, Mommy Divine thinks the two are planning to get married behind her back. Because she doesn’t approve of the wedding, she asked Jerry to closely follow the two and find out what they were doing.
Mommy Divine arrived at Shangri-La Hotel in Bonifacio Global City, the venue of the secret wedding, to ask whether she could “talk” to her daughter as she was not happy she was not invited, Jerry told the police. But Matteo got angry at him, accusing him of being the one who told Sarah’s mom about the wedding.
In his anger, Matteo punched the bodyguard in the neck.
Taguig Police chief, Colonel Celso Rodriguez, confirmed the report.
“The close-in bodyguard, Tamara, went to our office and reported that he was punched by Guidicelli on the neck after he accused him that he told Mommy Divine about their wedding,” the police chief confirmed.
“Pinagdududahan na raw ni Mommy Divine na magpapakasal nang lihim ‘yung dalawa kaya inutusan niya si Tamara na i-inform siya sa pinupuntahan nila.”
As of press time, the bodyguard has not filed a case against Matteo yet; however, he reportedly went to Taguig-Pateros District Hospital for medical examination and to obtain a medical report.
“He did not say that he will not file. That is why we are still waiting for him to file a formal complaint to us,” the police chief said.
