Designer Makes Customized Gown to Fit PWD Bride’s Wheelchair

One bride who’s been on a wheelchair for 11 years thought that she could never have a beautiful gown for her wedding, but a designer surprised her with a customized gown that actually fit her wheelchair!

The wedding gown encompassed the wheelchair that though she was sitting on it for the entire event, the photos look like she’s simply wearing a truly beautiful and voluminous gown! Isn’t that sweet of her designer to do?

Bride in Wheelchair

Lyza Queen Escala admitted that her wedding gown was her biggest concern during the wedding preparations.

“Of course na-co-compare ko ‘yung sarili ko sa ibang brides na magaganda talaga ‘yung gown. And I think every bride’s dream din is to be the most beautiful on her wedding day. Hanggang sa nag-self pity na ko na ‘why do I have to be a wheelchair-bound person?’ I even hated my wheelchair during that time,” Lyza said.

Gusto ko kasi talagang gown is ‘yung malaki at mahaba but then naisip ko impossible na ‘yun sa kagaya ko.

But she had no idea that she would actually get that dream wedding gown, thanks to wedding gown designer Bea Fuentes Balajadia who managed to turn her dream wedding gown into reality.

Surprise Wedding Gown

During their first meeting, the designer showed her the initial idea for the gown but Lyza told her she wasn’t able to picture out how the dress would look like once she wears it. Since she’s confined to the wheelchair, she thought that only a less voluminous gown will be made for her.

But Bea surprised her with the customized gown that fit her wheelchair!

Nagulat ako sa sobrang ganda tapos naiyak na ko. ‘Yung feeling na para sakin imposible ko na masuot yung ganung klase ng gown. Pero posible pala,” Lyza shared.

So, when Lyza got married to Aljohn Louie Escala last December 14, 2019 at the Church in the Sky Parish in Taytay, Rizal, Lyza was able to wear the dress of her dreams! She looks so gorgeous – and her wheelchair is cleverly hidden inside the beautiful dress… Kudos, Bea!

Customized Wedding Gowns

These days, it is easy to find ready-made gowns in shops but a lot of brides still prefer customized wedding gowns so they can pick the designs they love to wear. This is also a great option for those who, like Lyza, need to be in a modified outfit.
